Nowadays this novel can be considered as an alternative history. But at the time of writing, it was exclusively science fiction. Everything happens in the year two thousand and seven. The nuclear war between the United States and the Soviet Union has recently ended. As a result of this conflict, Washington is destroyed. China is part of the USSR. Many countries are actively exploring space. The moon and Venus are already inhabited by earthlings. The plot of the novel begins when a flying saucer lands in the United States. Intelligence officers arrive to study it immediately. Still they discover not a spaceship, but only a primitive fake. Later it turns out that the farmers in this area are infected with the strange parasites that control them. It is even more dangerous than a fake UFO.
