Good roads are the actual question even nowadays. But we live in the modern world and can get much more, than just roads. Tunnels can pass underground or under water. This saves a huge amount of time for drivers. One of the most impressive tunnels is in Japan: it is more than fifty kilometers in length and connects two islands. It was created for people not to travel by boat in this area, because it was dangerous. Also there are tunnels for trains. In Norway there is such a tunnel. It goes through a mountain so that the train does not have to go through the cold and snow outside.
