Everything happened in Paris. A cool, quiet evening came. The protagonist was talking to his friend, who worked as a detective. They had been sitting in a large cozy mansion for an hour, when suddenly the head of the police called. He was also their friend and the men greeted him joyfully. The friends had not seen each other for some time so they were glad to hear the latest news from each other. The head of the police decided to talk about what was happening in the city. He warned that this was a very secret matter and there was a possibility of losing job for him if people found out that he had told about it. The problem was in the stolen letter that the police could not find. This letter had incriminating evidence on one young lady and the thief blackmailed this woman. The detective agreed to help the police.
